We were also lied too, cruise misrepresented, poor or no follow up by customer service, not appropriately advised of the 5 port changes and had we known would have cancelled. no indication ever of the itinerary change and the by weekly catalogs only reflected the cruise we expected to be on! you book way in advance and they also nearly want full payment up front! they have always done this and once we were so irate that we got payment delayed 6 months.
We had made 4 prior river trips with viking and all were fine except for the one from paris to avignon. it was a new long ship and the crew was inexperienced, the food came late and cold basically it was a 7 day disaster. so, we said let's try an ocean cruise - we'll that proved to be a mistake as the above article in "caps" indicates. be sure and find it for it was very accurate and an excellent description of viking failures that we too experienced.
Cabin. The long boats have a better cabin layout for the same sq, footage. They may have sacrificed space to improve the bathroom. But storage was minimal and they could have added wall cabinets for more space. The refrigerator was to large, took up to much space. Smaller space would have provided better space usage and perhaps added cabin storage - layout issue.
