Sail Date: May 2016
Cabin: Mid-Ship Balcony

The Wife and I (late 40’s) sailed out of New Orleans on May 1. We had a standard mid-ship balcony cabin (BA), Deck 9. We have sailed with Carnival (2), Princess (2), Royal Caribbean (1) and Norwegian (this was the 4th).

We carried-on all of our own luggage, and embarkation (around noon) was very, very, easy. This was the first time we carried everything onboard, and we will be doing the same from here on. Having your luggage right away, instead of waiting for delivery, is very nice. We were unpacked long before others ever saw their luggage.

We knew well ahead of time that the Norwegian Dawn was headed for dry-dock just a week after our sailing, so our expectations of her condition were as expected. Rusted balcony bolts, worn hand railings, worn carpeting, dated paneling, etc… We were told that the upcoming month-long dry-dock will address all of these issues and more. Apparently a large focus will be on upgrading the individual cabins.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

Seemed a little more cramped than other balcony cabin on other ships, but then again, I not looking to do back flips in the room. The balcony seemed standard sized. Only one electrical socket, so bring a multi socket extension.
