The ship itself was nice and clean and everything looked shiny and clean. The Purel bottles were everywhere and we were constantly urged to use them. I don't think anyone minded. As far as I know there was no Norovirus on this cruise. It did feel crowded at times, particularly at the Oceanview Buffet restaurant and in the corridors after dinner.

No complaints at all about our cabin. We were in 6208, a hump cabin. We had a slightly oversized balcony with a semi-obstructed view. I knew ahead of time what the view would be like, as previous occupants of this cabin have posted photos of the view. As others have mentioned, it wasn't bad at all. Our cabin steward, Anthony, was terrific. Without asking he furnished us with a large pitcher of ice water every day. He kept the room perfect even though we rarely saw him. My wife was a bit disappointed that there were no little towel creatures every night.

We cruised on the Celebrity Galaxy way back in 1998. It was a very nice cruise. I remember the food and dining service being excellent. Not so much this time. We felt that the Equinox dining experience was below par. My wife and I had to send our dinner back 4 or 5 times over the course of the 14 day cruise. At one lunch the menu described a cold potato and leek soup. When it came it to me it was piping hot! When I asked the waiter about it, he just shrugged his shoulders and said "oh, I forgot to tell you they changed it." I got the distinct impression that they they had the waiters serving more tables than they had in the past. My waiter, Rex, and his assistant Phillip were always trying but were obviously stressed. Service was sometimes very slow. Overall I was not impressed with the quality of the food that was served in the Main Dining Room nor the service.

Port Reviews

Ponta Delgada

Hired a local driver. His english was poor but he gave us a nice tour anyway. Beautiful, lush and interesting island.

Lisbon

We used Spain Day Tours. It was a nice tour but lunch wasn't very good. We were rushed in some places but Lisbon itself is beautiful with a very interesting history. Loved the Pena Palace.

Seville

HoHo Bus tour. Nice beaches here and a beautiful but small botanic garden.

Malaga

We hired a local driver, Pepi. He was excellent. Interesting city with an great local produce market.

Barcelona

Barcelona was beautiful. We stayed here for a couple of days post cruise. We hired Barcelona Day tours for a private tour for the four of us. Excellent job. Montserrat was beautiful and so was The Sagrada Familia Basilica. Loved seeing Gaudi's creations at The Sagrada Familia and Casa Batllo.
