Pros: The Triumph is ok for the value. We had a good time (not great). Carnival staff was very courteous as always, and the cruise director made sure that it was a fun experience. The wait staff was wonderful, and our steward made sure that our room was clean and comfortable. The private balconies were a plus. Cozumel was by-far my favorite port, having visited Mr. Sancho’s Beach Club for the day.

Cons: The clientele that Carnival is attracting out of the New Orleans area took us by surprise. I saw a lady at the pool twerking in a bikini (3 sizes too small) and eating from a high-piled buffet plate simultaneously. Many of the tween-age kids had formed mischievous intimidating little gangs that roamed about the ship freely, and ran amuck in the kids club. My three children eventually refused to go to the kid’s areas citing ongoing intimidation, bullying and foul language. The carnival staff in the kid’s area even appeared to be frazzled by their antics. On the balcony, one could detect continuous cigarette smoke and a faint smell of raw sewage wafting through the air. The bar staff were extremely slow, even during low volume times, so be prepared to wait for that $10 margarita. This is our second cruise. Our first was a smaller fun-ship out of Jacksonville which earned 5 stars. Bigger is not better. The large size of the Triumph has simply been used to house more passengers, not more entertainment. The karaoke bar was standing room only every night, and some of the other amenities were overwhelmed by the large numbers too. By day 4, we were actually glad to get off of the Triumph.

Again, we had a good time, considering the cost. However, I recommend driving south or east to a Florida port to cruise with different clientele.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

Cabin JS

The cabin was great. Our attendant was wonderful, and everything was clean, and he kept ice available for our soft drinks. The beds and bedding were quality, and the pillows were nice as well. Everyone seemed to be smoking on their balconies which is against the rules, but apparently not enforced.
