Sail Date: Mar 2016

This was our first time with NCL and we sailed with them because of their itinerary. We had always wanted to do the Panama Canal so we selected this cruise because we could also hit Columbia, Costa Rica, Belize and another Mexico port. Overall the ship was OK. At least everything was always clean and polished, which is more than I can say for Carnival. The breakfast and lunch buffet was plentiful and they had a lot of choice but it was the same everyday. The restaurant however was another experience. We totally loved the wait staff and wine sommelier and it got to be a joke with the hostess when we came in. She made sure we always was seated in his section. When we first ate dinner there they did not have a sugar free desert on the menu. I had an opportunity to speak with the head chef (a ship's officer) told him about it and that night a special desert was waiting for me. After two days a sugar free desert showed up on every menu. Our room steward was pretty good also. I do have a few complaints which bring my rating down. There was very little quality entertainment on board, the line wanted to nickel and dime you for everything. The bingo was really overpriced for what you got and the casino just flat stunk. I actually had a dealer chew me out because I played like I play in the Mississippi Gulf Coast casinos and they flat didn't like that. What really irked me however was we booked a snorkel tour in Belize. When we got our tickets on board I couldn't find the tickets. When I went to the excursion desk they told me the port was changed to Belize City from out original Belize port stop but the same tour (and same company) was available for more than twice the original cost. I told them they could shove it because it made me mad. They claimed they told me but that was bull. I doubt if I will ever use NCL again.
