We sailed on the Carnival Liberty out of Galveston departing on May 2nd. The ship was late to arrive into port due to mechanical issues. That should have been our first clue that this trip would be a disaster.
Embarkation was a bit slow but we have priority boarding so we were on the ship within 10 minutes after boarding started. But there were really long lines inside and outside the terminal. Our rooms were ready when we boarded.
Since we had a first time cruiser with our family, we were excited to show him the ship so strolled the entire ship while embarkation was completed. After a disorganized muster drill, the ship sailed at 5:30 pm despite starting embarkation 2 hours late. The crew did not even try to keep the muster drill orderly. People were yelling, drinking, talking and one baby was screaming at the top of her lungs.
The port personnel can be rude. I know you are handling thousands of people in a short period of time but there is no need to be nasty when giving directions.
