We chose this land/cruise tour because it allowed us to go to several of the Hawaiian Islands. We have sailed with Celebrity and Holland America as well as several river cruise lines in Europe. Needless to say, we are not new to cruising. This was a trip with 3 couples (cousins) that had been carefully planned out.
We had heard the food wasn't going to be anything special and it wasn't. Staff in dining room was slow, but we were rushed with orders and our waitress complained and acted like she was too busy to really take care of us.
The worst part was the awful sewage smell. As we were walking to the shopping area we passed through the Pink Champange Lounge and were overcome with the strong smell. One night there were two of the couples that had a strong smell in our rooms. They came and sprayed air freshener while we were out and left a note of apology and a bottle of wine. We were satisfied with that. Really, we didn't expect any kind of "gift". The absolute worst part was on our last night we had ordered a bucket of beer and as we began to drink it, we noticed the smell!!!! The labels on the beer bottles wreaked with the sewage smell. When we smelled the bucket of ice they were packed in...OH MY GOSH, I almost threw up. I took the bucket to the Guest Services Desk and was told "I don't want to smell that"!!!! Well guess what, neither did I! I took it to the bar we got it from, spoke with the bartender and the manager and was told, "I am not sure what you want me to do"...REALLY??? How about taking it to someone who cares and can make it right. I was a nervous wreck about getting sick from the ship after that. Glad it was our last night on board. JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE. I can understand the vents being blocked by negligence of passengers flushing non flushables, but to have it in drink and food areas....no mam.
We did our own walking tour. Very relaxing.
