We flew into San Juan a day early and stayed at the Howard Johnson at Plaza de Armas in old San Juan. I wouldn't recommend staying there. The elevator didn't work, it was loud in the area at night and our balcony doors didn't lock. We ended up having to switch rooms around midnight when we realized we shared a small balcony with the partiers next door. Old San Juan was wonderful, though, and we enjoyed sightseeing. Both of the forts at must sees!
We arrived at the Pan American Pier around 12:30 and were rapidly on the ship. We headed to lunch in the Windjammer and then to our room right afterwards to change and head to the pool. Our room was perfect. It has enough room to tuck away all of our items (there were three of us) and our suitcases all fit under the bed. My husband loved having a balcony! They even had curtains that could be pulled between our bed and our daughter's pull down bunk bed over the couch. This was perfect for the evening so that we could read without the light disturbing our daughter.
The first port was St. Thomas and we took a tour with V.I. Scenic tours. Burlie was our tour guide and since the other group was a no show we had a private tour. It was great and was only $25 a person. We rode around in an open air safari vehicle. We spent the morning shopping in town and then after sightseeing with Burlie she left us at Maegan's Bay for a nice afternoon at the beach. She then returned us to the ship.
Ample storage space, great balcony. Weird noises early in the morning and late at night..must be near some crew working? Small shower stall
