This cruise was my 4th. I have sailed with carnival about 10 years ago and the last 2 times i sailed with NCL. Out of all of cruises I have been on this was the worst.
My state room was on the 7th floor near the mail lobby (I really liked being that close to the music playing in the atrium before dinner). I had an ocean view room that was supposed to accommodate 4 people. I had the twin beds put together to make 1 full/queen bed, 1 bunk bed and 1 very thin mattress that was put on the floor. When I asked Jose my room steward about this he said this is how the set up is. When I had booked this room I made sure there was a cot or a roll away bed. Jose told me that the cot wouldn't fit in this room and was annoyed that i was upset about this. The room never had enough towels and didn't have a hair dryer either. That was big disappointment especially since I had myself, my 10 year old son and 2 teenage girls who wanted to shower daily. The bathroom had a horrible odor in it like raw sewage and when I brought this up Jose said that's the normal smell of the room....Gross!
The dinning options on this boat weren't good at all. The food selections and the service in the main Wind Star dinning room were not what I expected. I had the anytime dinning and there was always at least a 20 to an hour wait. The waitstaff was just ok, out of the 5 nights that I dined there I only had 1 gentleman who looked liked he was happy about serving us. Everyone else looked annoyed when I asked questions or need a refill on my drink. The service on each course was very slow. We were in the dinning room for about 2 hours getting our meals every night and that was with out dessert. A couple of times my children ordered soda it took them 20 mins to bring it to them.
Cabin was tight and only had 3 beds for 4 people. Would not give me the roll away bed I paid for, the steward said it wouldn't fit in my room. Not sure why they would put all of us in that room if its supposed to accommodate 4 people.
Charleston was very nice from what I saw of it, I would travel there in the future.
Nassau is beautiful once you get past the street vendors and the straw market. The people who work in there are very aggressive and try selling you everything and anything, when you say no thank you to them, they get mad.
