This was our first time on Carnival Magic. We cruised on the Carnival Breeze last year and both ships are near mirror images of each other with the exception of the decor. Overall we were happy with our cruise. The food was average in the main dining room and buffet, but the Blue Iguana Cantina, Guy's Burgers, the pizzeria, Tandoor and The Pig and Anchor were good alternative choices to the buffet. DO NOT believe previous reviews that stated the waits at the pizzeria, Guy's Burgers and The Pig and Anchor were 45 minutes. I would say that I waited on sea days and during busy times on average 10-15 minutes. Based on the quality of food I found the wait worth it.

We stayed in a ocean view family cabin (1390). While I prefer balcony cabins, this was a good alternative. I enjoy the feature of two separate showers and sinks. I just wish there was an extra toilet to accompany these features. The spaciousness was good for a cruise cabin. The storage I feel was excellent. My only complaint in that department is the hangers. Carnival should spring for real hangers instead of the anti theft type. The temperature of our cabin was the only issue with our cabin. It never got cool and the air never seemed to circulate. We apprised guest services of the issue and they sent someone out to check it. They followed back up with me saying that the cabin fell into the normal temperature of 74 degrees, but they would supply a fan. This was not the fix we were hoping for and are disappointed that the temperature couldn't get lowered to the 68-70 degrees we are accustomed to having. I have never had an issue with my cabin being too warm, if anything I usually had to turn up the thermostat a bit. Several of our friends staying in adjacent cabins had the same issue with warm rooms.

Enough about the cabin. The main areas were clean and easy to navigate. I really like the layout of this ship, as well as the Breeze. My only criticism is that the casino was way too smokey and that it should be sealed off from other public areas, as the cigarette smoke and odor was very noticeable in Ocean Plaza and the midship elevator bank adjacent to the casino. The Lido deck is well thought out and I think offers enough for everyone. The sports and recreation deck too is well laid out and offers plenty for various activity levels.
