This was our first cruise with the whole family, so we wanted it to be short and not too expensive. Several members of the family live in Orlando, so Port Canaveral was the obvious choice.

Boarding was a breeze. Barely took 20 minutes. The cabin (Junior Suite) was quite nice, although there were signs of age like peeling paint and such. Our cabin steward (Venoth) was exceptional. I don't recall ever leaving or coming back to the cabin and not seeing him. We had a pole in our cabin, but it really was a non-issue. We bought the wifi package for two devices. It worked, but was very slow and finicky, especially with iPhones. It worked better with the laptops. Still, for $90 for the 3 days, the value was questionable.

The food in the main dining room was just ok. My wife requested non-dairy meals (allergies) and she was accommodated, but the choices for her were very limited and dessert for her was always just fruit. Why no sorbet or other non-dairy desserts? Wine at dinner was quite pricey at $15/glass. The portion size of the meals was less than you'd expect. Those with large appetites will be looking for something else to eat later. Luckily the Windjammer Cafe has long hours and truth be told, the food and variety is better there. I preferred breakfast and lunch in the Windjammer over dinner in the main dining room.

Port Reviews

Nassau

Other than a quick walk around the marketplace area, we pretty much stayed on the ship this day.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

No complaints about Port Canaveral. Boarding was a breeze. We stayed at Country Inns and Suites the night before and shuttled over the morning of the cruise.
