Scenic deserves great credit for the design of their ships, with spacious cabins, nice amenities and terrific balconies. The cruise line also does a fantastic job marketing their product, but they fall far short of luxury standards when it comes to service, dining and activities.

Our 7 day cruise aboard the Jade was our first river cruise and likely our last on Scenic. We were attracted to the cruise by the featured ports in Holland and Belgium along with Scenic's self promotion of luxury, first class service. While they brought us to the featured ports, they failed repeatedly in providing good service.

Given the advertising of Scenic, we expected to dock in the center of each port on our river cruise and have an opportunity to supplement the ship's excursions with our own exploring. However, we found Scenic often docks at remote industrial areas, far from the heart of the city. Limited time at each port restricted our ability to enjoy time to stroll around and discover each town.
