Just returned from a fantastic week-long cruise on the new Ovation of the Seas. We were on its sister ship, Anthem of the Seas last May, and although they are both Quantum class, cruising on Ovation was a marked improvement over our experience on Anthem. We enjoyed Anthem, but it wasn't as polished or as hassle free as Ovation.

The food on Ovation was much better, the service was excellent and the overall atmosphere was friendlier and, just more professional.

We didn't have a bad meal the entire cruise, and the one time I commented privately to one of our friends that the fish in one dish might be a little dry, this was overheard by waiting staff who apologised. The following day we received a bottle of sparkling wine and a tray of cakes in our stateroom - even though I hadn't even complained, merely commented on a minor issue.

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D8

Everything we needed, light and airy. Would benefit, however, with full length hanging rail section for evening dresses.

Port Reviews

Le Havre

Honfleur is well worth a visit. Very pretty and lots of craft shops.

Bilbao

We arrived on a Sunday and shops were shut, but prices in cafes and bars were very reasonable. 1.5 euros for a coffee. 2 euros for a glass of wine.
