the embarkation process at Southampton was excellent, after checking in at the desk we only sat in the waiting lounge for 5 minutes maximum, everyone of the staff we spoke with at Southampton was friendly and kind. We boarded the ship but no one to direct you to your cabin which seemed a shame as loads of people not knowing which way to go. we found our cabin and it was excellent.

unfortunately the food in the main dinning room was not up to the usual standards we have come to expect, but the waiters were very good but no wine waiters, the drinks are served by the assistant waiter and if you want a second drink with your meal it comes just as you finish your meal. Entertainment was most nights a guest act and the shows only last 35 minutes, the on-board entertainment dancers and singers only did two shows all week, there was only three waiting staff taking drinks orders in the theatre, so if you want a drink while watching the show best take one with you. also the service in the other lounges was very slow, in the international plaza it took us 20 minutes before a waiter came and took our order and after no drinks arriving after another 20 minutes I went to find out what had happened only to be told be with you in 5 minutes, we finally had a drink after 50 minutes of waiting. the ports of call were all very good, we did our own thing in each port, there was free shuttle buses in France to take you the 20 minute drive in to town.

the shuttle bus and tender ticketing system was not very well organised we heard people talking about not getting into town until four and half hours after docking. the disembarkation back in Southampton was again excellent but you had to have your case outside your cabin door by 10 pm at the latest on the last night , most other cruises we have been on this has normally been midnight. this was our second cruise with Princess. have also cruised with P & O, saga, Celebrity, Fred Olsen and Thomson.
