Travel to the Scenic Jade was fine, but very disappointing thereafter, of the 146 passengers 104 were from Australia and some did not bother to change for dinner, Scenic give the impression of being smart casual but some were dining at dinner in jeans, trainers and tee shirts.
The food on board was usually served cold on a warm plate and mostly of poor quality, the lunch time buffet was repetitive with little in the way of cold meat or fish and the bread selection was very poor and not exactly fresh. We had a diamond deck cabin and the cruise director requested no running on the top deck before 0800 - several times we complained that there were people running on the deck above our cabin before 0730.
City excursion to Bruges was a very rushed event due to late docking only two hours in the city with 90 minutes each way in a coach, excursions to both Maastricht and Heidelberg were on a Sunday when everything was closed. The Rhine scenery is very industrial until you reach Koblenz but thereafter the scenery was very interesting.
Cabin although a little small by Ocean cruise standards - the cabin was clean, comfortable bed and a great shower - room service was acceptable though we had to request the restocking of the mini bar on a few occasions and the so called butlers were not to ocean cruise line standard
