This was a 4 day cruise to Baja California, Ensenada Mexico. My husband and I surprised our Mom's with a weekend cruise. After booking our cruise, I received an email and phone call from Carnival asking if we would like to upgrade to the Owner's Suite aka the Penthouse! I knew that this was a potential once in a lifetime option to upgrade and we took it!!

We didn't tell our mom's about the upgrade, and were not going to tell them until we stepped foot into the suite. My mom uses a wheelchair and using the VIP check in (which comes with the Owner's Suite) we were on our way, being escorted, within 10 minutes of check in, to our room. We arrived and yelled "surprise" and everyone had a glass of champagne and fruit/cheese from a basket that was waiting for us. This aprox 1000 sq ft room, has one separate bedroom with a flat screen, a very large living room, with a flat screen, bar and plenty of chairs for everyone to sit in. The extra large king size bed was given to our mothers, and we slept in one of two convertible, very comfortable, couches that made into a Queen size bed each. The bathroom is very large with a jacuzzi tub. We stood on the extra large balcony and sipped our wine. The balcony has a lifeboat obstructed view, however, my mother-in-law is afraid of heights and this made her feel more safe sitting on the balcony because she couldn't see the water level. So everyone was happy.

We had wonderful service in our room, probably due to the Owner's Suite upgrade price, but it was worth it. We had 2 room stewart's that were at our room any time day or night with whatever we needed, including a safety pin to help pin a dress hem.
