Sailed with Viking before & found their ships to always be excellent. It was a new ship & from all the literature, it appeared to be a first class ship. We weren't disappointed. Stateroom was very roomy & comfortable. All the restaurants were very well appointed with outstanding food. Common areas were very attractive. Shore excursions were excellent in content, places visited & quality of the guides. We've been on about 12 cruises & the Viking Star was the best ever. Also liked relatively low number of passengers.

Only disappointment was that the ship failed to set its clocks ahead by one hour for Turkish daylight savings on Sunday, 27 March. This resulted in wakeup calls coming to the staterooms an hour late. We were also disappointed in not seeing Istanbul, but fully understood the reason. Croatia was probably our favorite stop, particularly, Dubrovnik, where we had the excursion of the cruise. My wife had a cyst which erupted while on board. The required several visits to sick bay where she received excellent treatment from a very professional and caring staff. This exceeded our expectations. Had an opportunity to meet the Captain who we found to be very "down to earth", polite and outgoing.

The wait staff in every restaurant was top quality, extremely friendly, had a good sense of humor and provided excellent service. This was one our very best cruises ever and we'll be back to Viking again. About the only disappointment was that they just dropped us at the Istanbul Airport without any guidance of what to expect or how to proceed with check-in.
