Sail Date: Apr 2016
Cabin: Mini-Suite with Balcony

We sailed on NCL Star from Tampa on April 10. We are a couple in our 60's, retired, living in Florida. We had the promotional Ultimate Beverage Package and stayed in a mini-suite. No long review here. If you want detailed ship and port info, see CTCruisers' review of the same cruise posted earlier, it's excellent with much more detail than I could ever provide.

Our mini-suite was great, with plenty of room and no problems whatsoever with it. A nice large balcony too. Our room steward, Philomeno, was the best. He knew our names first thing, and greeted us as we left for breakfast just about every morning.

The ship is nice; food, beverages and service were all top notch for the most part. Other than the prime rib on the first night, we enjoyed every meal. We also loved being able to make dinner reservations on-line a couple months before we left. At every restaurant we arrived 5-10 minutes before our reservation time and were seated immediately. Well done NCL. Here is a short review of each dining/drinking venue we used:

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MB

Nice balcony mini-suite with lots of room for two. The heavy curtain between the sitting area and the bed is very convenient. Everything worked fine. Big balcony.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

A shopping mall on a pier.

Tampa

Getting from I-275 to the port was a disaster. It's hard to find and the lack of signs is a disgrace.

Belize City

Not a very nice place. Old and dirty city

Costa Maya

The maleacon (boardwalk) was OK.

Roatan

Poor country; ugly town.
