We went on the Breakaway with friends for a cruise to the Bahamas. While we have already been to the destinations(which are so so) on previous cruises we decide to go again because we like the Breakaway. We like the freestyle dining in the three dining rooms. Embarking and disembarking were easy. The shows were excellent, although Burn the Floor was an abbreviated show due to a few dancers being injured and could not perform. Dan Dan, the Cruise Director is excellent. He was engaging entertaining, funny and talented. He is probably one of the best Cruise Directors we have had in all our cruises.

We had a mini suite. It really is just about the same as a balcony cabin. The only difference is that the bathroom is larger in the mini suite. If you are a large person the mini suite is the way to go. The cabin itself seems the same for both. The balcony is very small with barely enough room for two people to sit. We are not big drinkers so we went with the "rock bottom deal". It was $300 less person than the deal with choose two. Most people chose the free drinks and another package. With the free drink package, there is about a $200 fee tacked on for tips and gratuities. We saved about $800 on the basic no frills rate between the $300 each on the cruise rate and the tips and service fees. We had a drink or two a day that we paid for.and we were still way ahead. The drinks are very high, with a 16 oz beer being $8.20, but unless you drink a huge amount on the cruise it is cheaper to go with the rock bottom price. Do the math.

We love the NCL cruises and plan on more cruises in the future.
