This was our first Celebrity cruise, having completed quite a few on Royal Caribbean we were keen to sample something different.
We flew from London to New York, and then onto Miami, stayed the night at the Intercontinental in Miami, it’s a very nice hotel, but we were literally in it for a sleep over. Used Uber to get a taxi to drive us to the port. Surprisingly, Uber drivers aren’t welcome at the port, seems a tad ridiculous, but for the purposes of that the trip, the taxi driver was dropping off two of his friends! The fare was about $35.
Boarding in Fort Lauderdale was a breeze, we arrived just after 12 midday and walked pretty much straight through security, collected our sea passes cards and onto the ship, 5 minutes tops. In time honored tradition, headed straight to the bar to avail of the drinks package ($65/head) and sample our first Martini. As we navigated our way around the ship we found it impeccably clean and the staff were all pretty warm and friendly. We passed the Sea View Café (Windjammer equivalent), one friendly chap explained the specialty dining packages, so we were relieved of around $320 for a 5 dinner package. There was a strong push for us to book all our restaurants more or less straight away, we spread them out over the course of cruise. We continued to wander the ship, one small gripe, the outside bars didn’t have drinks menu’s, so ordering a couple of cocktails and sampling new drinks wasn’t possible, went with the old trusted favorites, Mud Slide and a Pina Colada. Outside menus were absent for the duration of the cruise.
Red Bus tour directly outside port.
Walked around Vigo many times - didn't rain on this occasion.
Arrived in Miami, transferred directly from hotel to ship.
