DAWN - FUN ADVENTURE!

Sail Date: December 2008
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

Sailed the Dawn - December 6-13, 2008

Embarkation - Arrived from the Miami Airport Hilton at 12:15 and it was a zoo. Long lines. In fact, the longest I've ever waited to board a cruise ship...not handled well. And it seemed like a long haul to finally get up on board. Grade: D-

Ship- Beautiful ship. Well maintained. Somebody always seemed to be cleaning something. We liked everything about the ship. Grade: A

Cabin - We had an obstructed view cabin. It was very nice. The beds pulled together nicely. Storage space was adequate. The bathroom was large enough. TV could stand to be upgraded. Grade: A

Staff - Our room stewards stayed out of sight but did a magnificent job of keeping our room in tip top shape. I got along well with many of the ship's bartenders. I have to especially compliment Edwin in the lobby lounge. He and his assistants are very friendly and provide excellent service. Edwin also works in the sports bar and More has been sailing with Norwegian for many years. He is a native of Barbados. The restaurant staff, while sometimes curt in the Garden Buffet, usually did a very nice job. We had dinner with one of the officers one night and were very entertained. Grade: A

Food - Not pleased with the Garden Buffet breakfasts, but fairly typical. Not imaginative. We ate dinner at Cagney's - outstanding meal and service. Great steak. Most evenings we ate in the Aqua and the service was always outstanding. We never waited. The food was usually very good. I did not care for the turkey - very bland and not good. The lobsters were smaller than I have seen before, but good. Grade: A-

Entertainment- We enjoyed all the shows we saw. Dave Heenan was very funny... in both of his acts. The singers and dancers were very good. And, the bands were good. Grade: A

Ports of Call: Virgin Islands - we had to visit the "Top of the Mountain". Been there before and did it again - had too much to drink. Did not enjoy tendering here, though. Br. Tortola - Very beautiful island. We did the Pub Crawl and had a fantastic time - again, drank too much. However, several drank more than me and one gentleman hung his head out of the bus for most of the trip after lunch. He "peaked" way too early. Dominican Rep. - Did not go ashore here. Not developed enough. Stayed on board and had more fun by the pool. Private Island It was too rough to go to this island. The waves were really crashing here. Too much tendering for me at the port stops. We need less of this. Grade: B+

Room Service- Used this a couple of times. The staff was very quick and very friendly about anything we ordered from room service. Grade: A

Casino - Too smoky. Did not win anything. We heard there some lucky people from our group winning. Grade: C+

Disembarkation: Very smooth. No problems. Caught a cab back to the airport and the flight back home went very well. Grade: A

Would we travel on this ship again - yes. We enjoyed it very much. Less
