Having never been on a cruise before we thought a smaller ship would be less scary- and we were right! We had heard such wonderful things about the Norwegian fjords and we were not disappointed- the scenery was absolutely spectacular and we were extra blessed in having beautiful sunny weather, calm seas and also seeing the Northern Lights. The Norwegians are so friendly and polite and their knowledge of English puts us to shame as a nation.
As regards the ship: the cleanliness was a credit to the crew. Everywhere was spotless and there were always staff wiping down the bannister rails and lift buttons to ward off germs. Our cabin on deck 7 was more spacious than we expected with plenty of wardrobe space and a nice big window. Our cabin steward was always on hand to assist us and kept everything best and tidy.
Criticisms: Only half of the lifts were working at any one time. This was especially apparent when returning from excursions as there was only ONE lift available to take 3 bus loads of people from deck 3 upwards. As a lot of passengers were elderly or had walking difficulties and couldn't use the stairs , this caused ridiculously long queues and was extremely annoying when other lifts were there but not in use.
