I picked this cruise because it was leaving when I wanted from NYC. I booked at the last minute, the day before. Yes, you can still do that if there are cabins left. I also booked because they were not charging too much extra for a single person. I would not do a 100%, double cruise fare, unless the fare is real low to start with. I ended up in a mini suite all by myself. It was very nice.
All was good except getting off the ship at the private island. They are very organized, but still it was like an hour wait from leaving my room to being on the island, or maybe more. Then a little more of a wait for food on the bbq line at the island. But in the end, that day turned out wonderful, when I was one of the few last people on the beach and the weather turned sunny. It was magical to be on that island and in that water then.
The food in the MDR was good, but could have been better. There was no lobster night. I don't like that they are going ala carte in the specialty restaurants. Who wants to get on a cruise, and then pay a good amount more to eat?
The cabin was good. I thought the bed very comfortable. The bathroom had a large shower with jets- great. The room was a decent size, but after all, it was a mini suite. My only small complaint was that deck 9 is right over a 7' roof for the out door restaurants area. You heard some noise from deck 8, but it subsided later in the evening, and also you could not see right down to the water, so it actually is a slightly obstructed view. I do not know if they consider this an obstructed view or not. I booked at 4:30 the day before, so I am not complaining, just telling readers about deck 9.
The heating/air conditioning worked fine for me.
Oh yes, before I forget, my balcony glass was never washed throughout the whole cruise, so that was a negative.
