We had previously gone on 4 Viking river cruises. We knew this one would be special.
We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary--had to be special. We had recommendations from others that this cruise was unsurpassed. Great food and accommodations. The Viking Star is new and this being the 2nd year we felt most problems would have been worked out. I think that is true.
The cabin was very spacious, but we had some problems with the bathroom and closet and drawers being in the same location. We kept bumping into each other. I had to move my things to other areas. There just are not enough hours in the day or personal energy to take in all the offerings onboard or on the tours. We were sleep-deprived when we arrived having flown from the West Coast of USA to Venice so we were slow starting with the entertainments. The ones we were able to include were great.
The arrangement of the cabin was awkward because my side of the closet was behind the bathroom door if it came open. My husband was always in my way because he was using the drawers next to the bathroom. Once he opened the bathroom door while I was getting clothes from the closet and the door bottom corner cut the back of my foot. Ow! It needs rounding off. I also tripped over the door stop EVERY time I went to the closet or back to the bed. The bed was good. Comfortable. The desk and sofa area is very roomy and comfortable.
