We chose `Poland, Prague and the Elegant Elbe`because it enabled us to visit Berlin, Prague, Auschwitz and Krakow with a river cruise included. River cruising is our favourite way to travel but until this new trip was announced we had thought we would have to visit these areas by coach.

The cruise portion on the Elbe River comprised seven nights with embarkation at Magdeburg and disembarkation at Melnik.

Our cabin (Standard E) was small but adequate. An extremely comfortable bed and all the amenities one might want. The main problem with the food was how not to eat too much. By mid-week one attempted to cut down but then one look at the menu and temptation won yet again. Although local specialties were sometimes included they often were not identified on the menu - a disservice to the chef and a small criticism that can easily be rectified.
