This was our 5th cruise and our 4th on RCL - first from Brisbane. Embarkation was very smooth - seemed to go faster than all the ones from Sydney. Parked the car nearby at Portside parking for reasonable rates and dropped fellow travellers off at entry no problems, and then walked a short distance back to ship.
Had seen some previous reviews regarding old worn ship, poor crew etc. Must have been a different ship to the one we were on. Boarded expecting to see obvious wear & tear, rust and incompetent staff, and our first-cruise friends would be disappointed with the whole experience. Nothing could be further from the truth. The ship was spotless, and evidence of ongoing maintenance was evident.
The crew was very friendly, and helpful, and remained so for the entire length of the trip.
These are a bit smaller than many because Legend is a smaller ship than many newer ones. However the balcony gives a bit of extra space and the large doors give the room extra lightness, plus extra space to chill out. Hanging space is limited and there's not really enough room for two large suitcases to be stored away. In addition if you want a fridge, you have to ask for it. My wife said that the bathroom was smaller too, but I couldn't see it.- women may have a better eye for that sort of thing.
The cabin attendant kept it immaculate. Décor was nice, and it definitely didn't look "tired". Plumbing all worked fine through whole trip. We chose this location because it was the lowest balcony deck in the mid section of the ship - not as much motion as up higher, or nearer the ends.
This is a blast - A way to get muddy fast! Load and decently quick for the terrain - just try not to get stuck behind someone slow.
Informative - a great way to see the city at street level. Informative and interesting guide, with sightseeing, history and lifestyle all covered well
Another missed opportunity for Lifou - non English speaking driver left us to see the sights, with no background information. Second occurrence on Lifou. Won't be back until can actually learn about Lifou, not just see some of it.
Boarding was far better than I imagined it would, given some earlier reviews.
Didn't take an excursion - plenty to do on the beach with stalls, swimming, snorkelling, and eating/having a cooling drink. A top spot. Maybe next time will visit the blue grotto, which some fellow passengers said was a top spot.
