We are first time cruisers, I was not a great fan of the cruise style holiday, but I can now see a merit in using this format to visit places outside the main circuits We chose the cruise because we were in the Houston area and it was a chance to tour part of the Caribbean as we would have been unlikely to travel from New Zealand to do that.
We were very pleased with our decision to use RC line. We found the Liberty to be a clean, tidy and seemingly happy ship. We enjoyed our cabin with a balcony enabling privacy and ambience at the same time. Staff without exception were efficient and friendly in all locations. We spoke to several about their work and how it fitted with their jobs.
The daily Cruise Compass provided useful date not only about onboard activities but also housekeeping and tour advice. We used the onboard electronic booking system which worked well. Were particularly impressed with the dining service - in Rembrandt room, so much so that we did not think it necessary to stray to a speciality restaurant. Lunch at the Jade was also above expectations. We took the kitchen tour and were impressed with the number of meals prepared each sitting and the efficiency needed to get meals on time and well plated.
Cabin met our expectations and was maintained well throughout the cruise. Everything worked and the concierge and his staff worked well and were available for any queries we had
Good overview of parts of Jamacia, well organised and conducted
Land and sea tour, great "submarine " tour, good trip thru Cayman with narration by driver, visit to turtle farm and rum tasting, but day a little short to look about the port area and "tourist shop"
Our tour was cancelled thru lack or interest, we just strolled about town, shopped, ate and compared margaritas. Enjoyed a relaxing day
Did not take any excursions. Travelled to Galveston on morning of departure. A difficult place to get to, better advertising of transport fro Houston and environs would assist
