7-Day cruise aboard Norwegian Getaway sailing out of Miami on April 10, 2016 in cabin 14262 (Deck 14 - AFT. ***** DO NOT BOOK A DECK 14 AFT CABIN*****)

DAY 1 - Embarkation - smooth as silk - no problems - started at 11:00 AM as scheduled - took about 30 minutes to get on board. Cabin was ready about an hour after we boarded. Had time to explore around a little, grab a bite to eat at the Garden Cafe (Buffet), and have a drink at one of the 20 Bars on board. Ship was clean and very impressive. Garden Cafe was open for lunch and the buffet food was very good . Went to our Balcony Cabin which was very clean, and while small, all of the space was well planned with a nice bit of storage. Explored the ship and had dinner in the Tropicana Dining Room which was very nicely furnished, had good service, a fairly extensive menu, and excellent food. Welcome aboard party was fun. Retired a bit early. Bed was very comfortable. A/C worked like a charm.

Buffet: The Garden Cafe was the big Buffet attraction. The food there was varied and not at all like most buffets where everything tastes and smells the same. Menu was altered from day to day so as not to get boring.

We take a positive attitude and are bound and determined to have fun where ever we go. If we go to a show or an event we are not enjoying, we do not sit there and gripe about it. We gust chalk it up to experience, get up quietly, and move on to try something else. We LOVE cruises and have been on over 15 of them. HOWEVER, on DAY ONE we were so tired we went to bed early and just passed out. I was awaken by some noise from above our cabin around 6:00 AM.(Day 2) No real big deal, I am an early riser most days (except when I am on vacation). That night we went to the late comedy show and did not get back to our cabin until well after mid-night. No noise and no problem, especially since I could sleep in next morning... right....WRONG!!! Next morning at 5:30,(Day 3) it started up again. I tried to go back to sleep, but the noise won out. I mentioned it to my room steward later that day. That evening I was pretty exhausted, especially since I am not a napper. I tried going to sleep at about 10:00PM. Then the noise came back for a long time. I could not go to sleep until it subsided, about an hour and a half later. Then at 5:30 AM,(Day 4) just like clockwork, the furniture movers were back at work. I spoke to a hotel supervisor and she said she would check into it. We got back to our room that evening around 11:30. There was some noise, but not as much as before ( I guess the light furniture movers were working now). I passed out until 5:30 AM when it started all over again(Day 5). I got dressed, went out into the hall and counted paces until I fould where the noise from above was comimg. I went up to Deck 15 and walked the number of paces I had counted and founf the kitched crew prepping for the breakfast buffet. I went down to the Guest Services desk and left a long note about the problem. The box the note went into was supposed to be for the person in charge of all guest services. NOTHING !!!!! Next day, at you guessed it, 5:30 AM I went down to guest services and very calmly explained that I was being ignored and was suffering from exhaustion and probably sleep deprivation. They said they would get on it right away. on DAY 6,I got a call from the Head of Food & Beverages offering me a $100 on-board credit for my troubles. THAT's it for me. I will cruise again, but you can bet your bottom dollar there will be NO MORE DECK 14 AFT CABINS FOR ME !!!!!
