Sail Date: Apr 2016
Cabin: Deluxe Veranda 2C
Partial obstructed view cabin 6243
Deck 5 Gellato and more importantly where I got free peanut M&Ms every day
Part of the totally smoke free Casino. A pleasure to be there.
When a small lunch is in order go here inside the Solarium pool area.
Totally useless space.
Great coconut cookies and many other sweet tastes at Deck 5 Cafe Bacio
When that hamburger and hot dog craving hits this is the place to go. Mast Grill
Instead of the waiters pre-pouring glasses of juice (always watered down), fill your own cup with fresh juices and coffee. Much better tasting and several locations to virtually eliminate lines of people. Oceanview Cafe
One of several food islands in Oceanview Cafe.
Part of Sky Lounge where the Cruise Critic Meet and Greet took place. Officers were introduced by the Cruise Director. This was treated as an important event for them. The difference from Royal Caribbean was clear.

Chose this cruise to see ports we hadn't been to. Left on a Monday for 11 days from Port Everglades. We used off site parking (Park-N-Go) which went very well both going and coming back. They valet parked the car (keeping the key with the car) and took us directly to the car when we returned. Our second time using them and recommend them highly. From the time we got to Park-N-Go to getting on the ship was only a half hour.

We traveled with two couples we knew and ate at the 6pm seating. We enjoyed all the meals which once again were consistently good no matter what was chosen from the menu. Pre-cruise I wanted to purchase the 3 night specialty dining package ($99) but the Celebrity website would not allow it. However as soon as we got on board we found them "hawking" that same deal right at the entry on deck 5. I talked our traveling couples into buying the same package. They all thanked me later after we ate out three times. We all agreed that Silk Harvest (Asian cuisine) was the best. In fact I was somewhat disappointed with Tuscan Grill and Murano. In each case I felt they were not as good as Chops and Giovanni's Table on Royal Caribbean. The difference was in the starters and deserts. Both were uninspired.

Evening entertainment was great on three particular nights. The singer, 2nd comedian and Motown review were fantastic. The on-board dancers and singer production numbers were not in a style that I liked personally. The day time entertainment was great. The singer came back for a day time show which was again fabulous. Each of four sea days we had the opportunity to see presentations on the space program and sea life. We went to every space presentation by Jim Kennedy, former head of Kennedy Space Center. Loved it.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 2C

Cabin 2C

Our cabin was 6243 on the port side just above the life boats. This presented an obstructed view but not so much to interfere with the view. We don't mind this at all. We did find out though that deck 5 just below us was the outside smokers site. Thankfully the smoke never accumulated on our balcony so it was never a real problem. Sometimes late in the evening lots of boisterous people would gather there for a short duration which we could hear in the cabin. Again not a big deal. We chose this room for its close proximity to the elevators and did not regret the choice. However, knowing the above I'd seek out the starboard equivalent cabin if it were available. The room was right at the start of the bump out which gave us a bit more balcony space.

Balcony wise we really liked the two reclining chairs and the tall table. Both of these features are a plus compared to Royal Caribbean. You could actually use that table to eat from compared to the dinky table on Royal that is also very low. It might hold you coffee cup but that's about it.

Port Reviews

Puerto Limon

Very fun excursion with a great lunch afterward. The 1.5 hour ride to and from was worth it. Class two rapids only to keep people in the boats and to reduce risk to the cruisers.

Colon (Cristobal)

Very interesting. Short drive to the canal with plenty of time to see boats using the locks. Very glad to do this excursion. By the time we booked the 8:15 excursion was filled. They later added a 12:15 excursion that we took. That allowed us to sleep in.

Cartagena (Colombia)

Very interesting sites. Wished we had more time to see them both. However the local vendors were constantly in your face. The worst in the caribbean. Did not return the second day even though I wanted to because of the harrassment factor.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Took $5 per person one way bus ride to the public beach. Terrific location and great beach. Paid $20 for two chairs and an umbrella. Short 10 minute ride.
