The Summit has always been my favorite ship. Check in was very easy and we were onboard very quickly. On the way to the room we noticed that the deck area was dirty and looked like it needed a good scrubbing. Our room was spacious with lots of storage and we loved the shower head and jets. The balcony also looked like it had not been cleaned in a while, however heavy rains in Martinique cleaned both areas up a bit. Looks like there is a reduction in staff around the ship so service was slow in some areas.
Loved the new internet service and was well worth signing up for.
The quality of food and staff in Blu was top notch. We were a bit disappointed in Tuscan Grille, however. The Maitre'd was excellent but the waiter could use some additional training and the food was not to my liking. Coming from the tri-state area where we get excellent Italian food may be the reason. The bartenders, especially the ones from the Caribbean, were all excellent and brought that nice island vibe that is missing on other lines.
Loved the cabin size and storage. The shower was quite large with excellent shower head and jets. Hangers in the closet were adequate but I did not like that leftover hangers from previous cruisers were left in there. I always discard mine when leaving. Not a good look.
We did not do any tours here and also did not use the ship's transfers as the taxi system is very efficient and is only $12 per person each way.
We took a taxi for $8 each to Cane Garden Bay. The driver took us to Rhymers and we spent a lovely day here. They had chairs and umbrellas for rent and there was a restaurant and changing facilities here. Beautiful beach and you will not be disappointed.
It rained all day and the US dollar is not welcome here. The people are not very friendly and English is not spoken here except for a few at the port. Don't waste any time ferrying over to the beach as they are man-made beaches and not very nice.
Very scenic island but taxi drivers are very aggressive. For $20 each we took a drive around the island. Nothing to make you want to come back.
We initially got on a tram to go to Magen's Bay but the driver was very rude and we got off. We ran into another couple from Canada who were going to Coki Beach so we went with them and were very glad we did. This is a beautiful beach and much more organized than Magen's Bay, where they charge an entrance fee and after paying for your chair you have to drag it yourself to your spot and then return it to get your deposit back. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent at Coki Beach but are already laid out. There were nice changing facilities and organized taxi service. Will definitely go here again.
