This was a repeat Western Caribbean cruise on the Equinox (1st was November 2014) because I enjoyed the ship so much. In fact, booked the same balcony cabin on the hump this time. The ship was still in excellent condition. But the stars were the staff. As the last trip, everyone was wonderful. Cabin and table staff were the best of all my cruises. I was happy to see that a former bartender in the Elite lounge was promoted to Assistant Bar Manager: Sebastien = well deserved.
I'd like to see Costa Rica replaced as a port. Most of the tours were canopy, zip line or banana plantations. Cartagena is a beautiful city and I'm glad we overnighted.
My three disappointments were the food in the main dining room, the entertainment and feather pillows. The food was good but not exceptional. The prime rib on the first night was the best meal. . Again, not bad but not special. I do believe this is the result of the push to specialty restaurants.
Great cabin on the hump; close to the elevators but no noise. Bed close to cabin door, vanity at the balcony door. Good bathroom layout and shower.
Did a city highlights tour with Dora for four hours in the morning; did an 'illuminated' city tour and dinner with Dora. Both were very good.
Great beaches and good water taxi tours of the Intercoastal.
OK port. Visited Tulum several trips ago. That was great. Went to a private beach club this time.
Would like to see this port replaced with another stop.
Great to see the locks in operation.
Tender port; operation was well run. Seven ships anchored. Looked like a parking lot; rather cool to see them all lined up.
