This was out 4th X cruise but our first time on an M class ship. As before, we sailed in Aqua, this time an A1 on deck 11 as we like the sun and the A2's on deck 9 seemed to have an overhang. Embarkation in Miami was delayed due to a deep clean - Norovirus on the previous cruise. However, we were well looked after in a separate lounge for Elites and Aqua customers with water and snacks provided. We were one of the first on board once the all clear was given and had lunch in Oceanview as this was the only venue open. Having read on here about the 'line' system in the buffet as opposed to the 'station' one in operation on the S class ships, I was a little apprehensive about the possible queues. However, I really couldn't see what the big deal was - in fact there wasn't any even at the busiest times. Food was great, although a little more day to day variation would be good.

Our room was in a fabulous position - marginally smaller than on the S class (the bathroom was noticeably smaller, and the shower had a propensity to leak if you didn't make sure that the rubber 'flaps' on the shower doors were in the correct position, but not really a big issue), and there were no footstools on the balcony. As this is something we have always had in S class Aqua rooms, we were rather disappointed. However, the problem was solved with the aid of pool towels and cushions from the room. Too bad if this results in excessive wear and tear on both - provide footstools Celebrity!! Have to say we were not impressed with our room attendant, who had a habit of hanging around waiting for tips at every opportunity. Given that the room was supposed to have been deep cleaned and yet there was dust visible all over the TV + the dresser appeared to be untouched for the duration of the cruise, we thought he had a bit of a nerve. Perhaps he thought he'd get tipped for everything as we gave him $20 on the first day for sorting out a special pillow for my OH. Note - we had to ask for vanity packs in the first instance, and for shampoo and shower gel to be replenished. Cutbacks? Possibly, or just our attendant not on the ball? Not that we let it affect our cruise.

Blu was great. Food was good and varied and Loredana, the hostess, an absolute delight. We made lots of new friends in Blu! The one fly in the ointment was the Sommelier. I had the premium beverage package and OH, who doesn't drink, the Premium water one. The sommelier seemed to have no time for the likes of us, seemingly interested only in those who bought wine by the bottle. One evening, we had nearly finished our starters and he had still not been anywhere near us. We caught the eye of the Maitre d' and informed him of the situation. To say that the Sommelier was less than happy is an understatement! From that point forward he never once offered me a taste of the wine before filling my glass and insisted on asking my OH if he was 'drinking tonight', in spite of being repeatedly told that he did not imbibe. It became a bit of a standing joke with us as we do not let these minor irritations affect our enjoyment of our holiday.

Cabin Review

Aqua Class

Cabin A1

Beautifully quiet overall. Some noise from the Roof Terrace film when on the balcony, but nothing to really complain about. Plenty of storage space, Although drawers in wardrobe area are very shallow. Lovely sunny balcony at the right time of day. No footstoll provided - we used a pile of pool towels and room cushions instead!
