We took a 7 day cruise on Nieuw Amsterdam and found it to be very nice. Food and service were excellent except we did not think Pinnacle Grill was any better than the regular dining room. OUr cabin stewards were excellent and our cabin itself was quite nice...like most cruise ships...but unusually large balcony...luck of the draw.
The embarkation was smooth as was the early disembarkation process. Our only dissatisfaction was that Holland allows folks to smoke on their verandahs and there were several times we had to go inside because someone close was smoking. While not a HA shore excursion, we got off in Georgetown Grand Cayman and took the public bus to the turtle exhibit...$2.50 each to ride and they are everywhere. Across the street was a restaurant called the Cracked Conch and it was spectacular...a don't miss. Great mojito.
Found we could order a carafe of house wine at dinner and it was a real bargain...two glasses each for about $15 US. The thing that was most helpful for me is that Holland allowed us to order coffee and breakfast to our stateroom the morning of disembarkation...only line that has done that. Final score...we made a future cruise deposit. It was a great trip!
nice large balcony and a bath tub! complete view from balcony.
nice overview of the island
turtle museum and Cracked Conch restaurant via public bus.
very well done for the snorkeling but the on site food was very average and cash only.
both the Hemingway House and Truman White house were fascinating. Dandy Cheeseburger at Margaritaville.
