I was a "solo cruiser" on this particular cruise. Being hesitant to go since I had just been on this ship in October 2015 when the service was horrible, I didn't know what to expect... The port had valet parking, so for an extra $20 above the regular parking fee, I let them park my car for me.
I had originally booked a balcony room 2 weeks before this cruise. A couple of days later, I received an email from Norwegian offering an upgrade to a Suite. Since I was traveling alone, I called them to make sure the upgrade would apply to me. I accepted the offer and chose the Suite my husband and I had been in on our last cruise together before he died....
The embarkation was so smooth and my Butler helped me to my cabin to place my luggage. He then took me to Cagney's Restaurant (the special dining room for the Suite passengers eating breakfast and lunch). The food was delicious and the service was wonderful, even meeting up with some of the employees from October.
Cabin 8170 is a large aft-facing balcony cabin. It does have a very long balcony that wraps around the side of the ship, but plan to use that wrap-around part for observation only. It is not wide enough to put a chair there. The balcony came equipped with two lounge chairs that were way too big for that balcony. I had the room steward remove one lounge chair and replace it with an upright single chair. (Don't let them tell you there is no room to store the removed chair) The room also has an awesome coffee/expresso maker. The bathroom and make-up area are spacious and the closet can be accessed from either side. The bed is comfortable.
Shopped in the shops at the port and had a drink and snacks at the outdoor restaurant. Very large pool available to the public with a swim-up bar!
I walked around the shops right there at the dock. Had a nice margarita at the open air lounge. $6 (I think)
Have been there before. I don't like Belize City. I don't feel safe there!
I shopped in the town by the ship dock. Very pushy sales people. My return walk back to the ship was on the other side of the street so I wouldn't be hassled.
