This was the Girls trip! We all have been on several cruises before. Some with the kids and husbands some alone and some with the girls. Some in our party had travel with Norwegian before but this was my first sail with Norwegian. Overall I was no impressed. At first embarkation was easy. Our bags where well taken care of, we were moved ahead of line due to our party members Gold latitude status. This was nice but happens on all lines so I only expected that. The greeting as we walked on the ship was quite impressive. The Assistant Director staff welcomed us with open arms and happy party vibes. The common areas on the ship where very clean, the restrooms the first day were clean as well. But is all went downhill after that. When we arrived in our stateroom it was very clean. The positioning of the big and closet was perfect. We were assigned a handicap room so we were somewhat spoiled with space for an inside cabin. The first night we arrived we had a wonderful towel animal. I was beginning to think Norwegian has brought their A game. Think again. The entire cruise our room steward was rarely seen. Occasionally I saw him in the hallways. He tried horribly to remember our names to no avail. There were times our room appeared to be cleaned but at a further observation the towels that I requested be replaced (by placing on the bathroom floor) were re-hung on the towel rack. Disgusting!!!! We went several days without shower gel in the dispenser. And I guess I could have told him that it was empty but really I'm on vacation WITHOUT my kids and husband....I could have done that at home. Our toilet did not flush properly after the third night. Our floor appear to not be vacuumed two of the seven nights. During turn down services it looked like the sheets and blankets were pulled up but not properly made. Stateroom service has never been that impolite and sloppy on any other cruise line I've been on.

I must say the dining options were plentiful. There were several Complimentary dining rooms as well as specialty rooms. But again the service in all were sub-par. One night we attended the complimentary Manhattan Room. We has absolutely no wait to be seated which was wonderful. But the time it took for the wait staff to finally notice us was unacceptable. A family sat down after us, received their water, was given menus and ordered before we could every get a drop of water. One of our party members had to get up and speak with the lead server to have us helped. There was an fair selection of menu items. I am a seafood fan and would have preferred much more fish and crab options. The major disappointment is the Lobster night. I have NEVER been on a cruise that only offered lobster as a purchased item. Typically lobster is offered one night out of the week. This is the culinary highlight of my cruise. I would have paid more to keep the Lobster night going. This really put a damper on my vacation.

The activities on board were fun. I've been to the ports several times over so the highlight for this cruise was to explore the ship and enjoy the on board entertainment. The Assistant Cruise directors and the cast of the shows really kept the party going. Day and night. Jeffery, one of the Asst. Cruise directors was especially fun. He kept us involved in several activities. He knew all the names of our party after the second day. The dancers for the Burn the Floor show were phenomenal. The should be paid double for their hard work. They also knew our names after a salsa lesson night and continued to acknowledge us the rest of the cruise. Its a shame I cannot say the same for the rest of the staff. Not very friendly. Guest Service was not very helpful either.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

In spite of the congestion everything was done very well with efficiency. Given our gold member status it actually went quite well.

Great Stirrup Cay

Due to weather conditions we skipped this port. Have been before so I wasn't too disappointed.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

I stayed on the ship.

Nassau

I have also been to this port several times so I knew exactly what to expect and was pleased with my choice to venture out shortly and return to the ship.
