We enjoyed our 4th cruise with Princess on the Regal Princess this past week. The ship is gorgeous with the wonderful piazza, International Cafe, Theater and Lido deck pool area. The food in the buffet was just ok and a little confusing. There is a bistro area and the. In the middle of the buffet there is the real food. Unfortunately we didn't figure this out for several days.

Our boys enjoyed the basketball court, ping pong and mini golf. The pool is the largest I've ever seen on any cruise ship and very deep. 5'3" to 7'3". We enjoyed our dinners in the main dining rooms at night and had anytime dining. Unfortunately we waited several times or were escorted to the dining room above us. I didn't understand that at all as we have always just gone in and been seated. No explanation was given. Many of the "free" things on other Princess ships we were charged for on the Regal Princess, which was disappointing.

We visited Princess Cays and while the island itself was breathtakingly lovely, the facilities were shabby and unkept. St Thomas and St Maarten were both just lovely. Our cabin was the smallest cabin on the ship and there were four of us. It was miserable. For those that spend more time in the cabin ( whether sick, or with small children) it was miserable. As Ruby members were were eligible for an upgrade which I asked for but was told the cruise was sold out. While on the ship we found that it was not sold out. The cabin next to us was HUGE and had just two people in it.

Balcony

Cabin BB

We had four of us in this balcony room and it was smaaaall!!! The beds fils out from the ceiling and we slept in two twins separately. You could not see the tv when the upper beds were folded down. You can barely pass through in the aisle without stubbing your toe on the ladders. The balcony was small but wide and we enjoyed it. Do not choose this room unless you don't care if it is smaaaaall. If you are someone who spends some in the cabin whether with small kids or ill, it's a huge mistake. The changing area and bathroom are all decent, though there was a sewer smell coming up from the toilet area. Also there was no cold water from the faucet, only hot or hotter, which was weird. The beds were very comfortable and we had the best cabin steward we have ever had, Michael.

Port Reviews

Princess Cays

Very disappointed in the facilities on this lovely island. Not up to Princess standards. Ramshackle and shabby at best.
