We have just completed our fifth cruise - each one has been different - ship, cabin, deck, big, small, destination and I can honestly say that the cruise on Thomson Spirit has been one of the better ones. In conversation only 2 couples grumbled - they thought the singing was too loud in the evening entertainment in the Theatre but that did not deter them from going each evening. The movement of people from airport to ship and reverse was slick. The friendliness of all on board felt genuine. There was ample food. The cabin was smaller than we have been used to but we only slept in it and it was clean. The only complaint we had was that there was insufficient sound proofing between cabins.

The excursions out of Ashdod to the biblical sites we thought were too long - 10 hours for some. As soon as the official tour buses left then the taxi drivers were offering much cheaper trips. We chose to visit Jaffa - this was a 5 hour excursion which we thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated all the information given by the courier Tal. While in port in Heraklion we chose to make our own way to see the ruins at Knossis - the direct bus stops at the entrance to the docks.

One problem facing Thomson holidays is when their clients are using Paphos airport in the summer. Based on our experience of that airport in early April the staff could not cope with the number of people arriving and trying to depart not to mention the number of times we had to display our passports for inspection
