For our honeymoon, the hubs and I decided to cruise around the Caribbean because 1) I figured if we were going to be traveling there, we should see as much as we could and 2) neither of us had been there before. It was a teensy bit more expensive than we would’ve liked, but as the hubby kept saying, you only honeymoon once.

We flew to Puerto Rico with a layover in Miami (we live in Utah), and although our flights were delayed, we made it to the cruise terminal/pier by 5pm. (Taxi is $25 + tip.) Getting around the terminal itself was a bit confusing, as there weren’t really any signs to direct us where to go and what not…but we made on board by around 5:15pm and proceeded to get dressed for dinner.

Now, dinner on this cruise is what you’d expect on most cruises. The main dining room, the “Cosmopolitan” featured 3 course dinners daily. This was a restaurant that you had to dress somewhat nicely for – no flip flops, t-shirts, shorts, etc. We went at 5:30pm every day because we had the Celebrity Select dining, which mean we’d be seated when there were seats. Nobody eats dinner at 5:30pm…except us and a few people who usually sat nearby. Dinner service was excellent every day, but from the time we sat down to the time we got up, it usually ended up being about an hour and a half. The food is brought out relatively slowly, but I do believe it’s just the way they do things. Maybe they want you to take the time to eat?

Barbados

Barbados was the southern-most island we visited. Because of the recent Zika virus outbreaks, I had to double up with both sunscreen AND bug spray. Ugh. Hubs and I had a bunch of time before we had to get ready for the excursion we booked (Barbados Beach Break), so we decided to take some time and explore the city. Not a great idea. While the downtown area IS within walkable distance, it was not a fun walk…nor was there much to see.

We got back in time for lunch and got ready for our beach excursion that afternoon. Our shuttle driver took us to Harbour Lights Beach where we sipped Rum Punches, hung out on the beach, and played in the water. The water was relatively calm over here, compared to what we saw later on in the week. The sand was soft (which we LOVED), and it ended up being a nice and chill day on the beach.

St. Lucia

First things first – St. Lucia is BEAUTIFUL! We decided to take the excursion out to the Pitons and snorkel. Did you know…St. Lucia has a drive in volcano?! There’s not much else I can write here, besides the fact that while snorkeling was cool, it wasn’t anything spectacular. I may have seen more in Hawaii…but here are some pictures of the island instead!

Antigua

So there is a city on Antigua called St. John, and there is a US Virgin Island named St. John. 2 very different places. The beach that we went to in St. John was probably the most underwhelming of them all, not to mention that it RAINED from the time we got off the cruise until we got to the beach. (But hey, I guess it stopped raining just in time right?) The sand was coarse, and people continued to ask us if we wanted to jetski/sail on a catamaran even after we had said no multiple times. From the cruise ship, Antigua looked very cute and quaint. What I did like about Antigua was being able to walk around the town a little bit to see what it was like OUTSIDE of the touristy areas. On the way back from the beach, we had a guy driving the “HAPPY TAXI” back to the ship. He had a reggae concert playing (loudly, I must add) and was screaming, yelping, and doing whatever else with the music – then every once in a while he’d just exclaim “HAPPY TAXI!” It was a stressful taxi ride back.
