My husband and I just returned from a Western Caribbean RC cruise on "Vision of the Seas," cruising out of Tampa. OF NOTE: A taxi from Tampa airport to the Port of Tampa is a flat fee of $25...regulated by the city, much cheaper than the shuttles. Embarking and disembarkation was quick and easy! Our large inside cabin was very clean and adequate. The staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful, especially our cabin steward, who made sure we always had clean towels and bed sheets; any necessities we needed for the trip.
Our table servers, Tony and Robert, were very polite and friendly, helping us feel right at home while we ate dinner in the Main Dining Room. The food was above average most nights, especially salmon, beef tenderloin, shrimp and lobster. Lamb was offered as one of the choices for 3 nights in a row...and I felt that fresh fish or beef could have been included more. Windjammer Cafe was a great alternative to the main dining room for breakfast and lunch, as well as the "solarium" snack bar that offered salads, sandwiches and a variety of desserts and drinks.
We thought the nightly entertainment was superb with an impressionist, comedian and Broadway-type shows. Mike, the Cruise Director, was hilarious as he opened each show with a few jokes and introduced the evening entertainment. Acrobats performed in the "Centrum" or middle part of the ship several times with great skill...very entertaining! Karaoke bar was a lot of fun too!
Adequate room to move around in. The bed converted into a comfortable King size and the bathroom was small, but we managed just fine. Nice amount of closet space to hang up clothes.
Great snorkeling, very shallow water, saw lots of sea life!
City tour in open carriage...stopped at museum and rum factory.
Very knowledgeable guide, 45 minute ride in air conditioned bus to Chacchoben, 2 bottles of cold water for us while we traveled.
Delicious buffet lunch, paddle boats, kayaks...clear blue water and lots of fun!
Tampa has a beautiful bay. We drove 25 minutes to Treasure Island and stayed at Oasis Palms Resort, right across the street from a fantastic beach! Drove down to St. Pete's Beach and up to Clearwater Beach. Had a wonderful time, except there were a few thunderstorms while we were there for 2 days.
