We are not so-called 'veteran' cruisers. This is our fourth trip, and the first aboard Celebrity. Before we booked this cruise - from Valparaiso, Chile through the Canal to Miami, I read a number of the Cruise Critic reviews of Celebrity and of the Infinity. And, I'm confused.
Some have been very enthusiastic, but a fair number have been critical of the Infinity experience --- and our cruise was a delight. I've read that some felt the ship was not in good shape after it's renovation lay-up last fall. We found the ship spotless - on the decks, the pool area, the dining rooms/buffets, the cabins - everywhere we went!
A number have been critical of the cabins. Ours was a delight. Granted we were in 'ocean view' on deck 2, and you'd think we might have something to criticize. But, our cabin was spotless, efficiently laid-out, easy to get around in, and our attendants did a great job and always responded to our needs.
Spotless, efficiently laid-out, bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, the large porthole was fine, the bathroom is better laid-out appears bigger than it is.
Would have given this a much, much higher rating, because the temple ruins are fascinating, but it took us two hours, a shuttle bus from the ship, then a taxi (in horrible Lima traffic - normally apparently) and then another tour shuttle bus from downtown hotel to get us to the 'real' tour bus. Ugh. Viator must come up with a better plan....
