I surprised my mom who is 70 with a Disney cruise for Christmas and it left on January 2nd. We flew into the Orlando airport and Stay at the Hyatt in the Orlando airport which was a great convenience. They have a n agreement with Disney so they took our bags right to the cruise ship the morning of our cruise so we didn't have to worry about it.

My mom had mobility issues so I reserved a handicapped accessible room and rented a wheel chair and electric scooter from Care vacations for her. The room was huge and could fit everything she needed. Care vacation delivered the equipment to our room so we had no worries. We took Disney's Cruise bus from the Orlando airport to the cruise port and it was worth the piece of mind. As we waited for our room to be ready the Disney cast was very helpful and social with us.

I had done some research and booked 2 port adventures that we accessible for my mom so she could use the wheel chair on them. We were able to take advantage of so many adult only options on the ship and on Disney's own island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay. We had Brunch at Palo one of Disney's adult only restaurants and it was wonderful. We were spoiled rotten, they even brought a plate to my mom so I didn't have to get her food first and then mine. We also got massages and loved the adult only rain forest room. Our food attendants were wonderful and were so careful and helped me choose my food because I have a food allergy. Our room attendant was also so wonderful and the room couldn't have been cleaner.

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

Cabin 04A

Our room was perfect for someone with mobility issues and the veranda had plenty of room for the wheel chair. We were near the center of the ship and our room attendant was wonderful.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

The Disney cast was very helpful at their cruise port.

Tortola

We took the Bella Nota boat tour and then had about a 15 min stop before continuing on a bus tour. This was wheel chair accessible, but the buses were hard to get on because there was a large step to go up. Also at the stop there was only one bathroom so the line was very long and we didn't have time to finish the drinks we got. The boat and land tour operators were very nice and knowledgeable. I also loved that we booked it through the cruise line because we got stuck in traffic on the way back and were late getting back to the boat. The ship waited for us, but if we went off on our own they wouldn't have.

St. Thomas

The Butterfly garden was so Beautiful and relaxing. It is just across from the cruise ship so we could spend as much time as we wanted there and we learned a lot.

St. Thomas

I loved this park. It is wheel chair accessible and not to big. We had enough time to see everything we wanted in 2 hours and the rum smoothies were great too.

Castaway Cay

I love Castaway cay and the fact that they have wheel chairs that can go on the sand. It would be nice if they has some type of ramp that could go in the water because the wheel chairs can be hard to push on the sand and people with mobility issues can have a hard time. The food is great and the water was perfect.
