This is our first time cruising. It was just me (34) and my husband (35). We have 3 kids but left them AT HOME for this long awaited short getaway.
We drove down from North Georgia and stayed at the Country Inn and Suites-Seffner. It was just $116 total for the night and a short 20 minute drive to the port the next morning. Nice clean hotel with decent breakfast. We had prepaid parking at the official port parking deck, which is directly across and a very short walk from the Royal Caribbean terminal 3.
We went straight through the boarding process and were on the ship within 30 minutes or so of dropping off our baggage, around 10:30 am. Very easy and smooth process.
We had prepared ourselves for a tiny room with zero space, and we were pleasantly surprised. We felt like we had ample room for moving around, storing our clothes, and my 6'6" husband DID in fact fit in the shower. ha. Our room attendant always had our room tidied up and we have no complaints about our room or the attendant. Our cabin was 3036, the very front of "mid-ship" and near the forward elevators. The only noise we heard was ship noise we assume from outside? There would be like the sound of creaking or like a chair moving or something, but we were under other rooms so not sure. It wasn't enough to disturb me. I'm a very light sleeper and we always have a white noise machine with us anyway.
We had a large round (porthole) window. This is our first cruise, but I can't imagine not having a window. We loved being able to have a view and relax with food brought back to the room.
We didn't take any excursions. It isn't a beautiful port, but the views during sailaway were interesting. We were able to see small airplanes landing on a nearby small runway, birds, beautiful homes, and a great view of the bay.
