Background. My husband and I are frequent Celebrity cruisers and knew exactly what to expect so, while we may not have been wowed, we weren't disappointed either. In fact, having read so many negative reviews, this cruise actually exceeded my expectations.
We flew Emirates from Boston to HK stopping briefly in Dubai and stayed at the Salisbury YMCA hotel.
Best embarkation ever. From drop off to cabin, stopping for champagne, was 15, maybe 20 minutes. (Disembarkation also went well.) We arrived at 1:30 during a 12-4 checkin window. The checkin time was inconvenient since it cut into what could have been a day for touring. The all onboard time was 5 PM for a 8 PM departure which also shortened our next day in port.

This worked well for us. Great location, quiet, plenty of storage. Didn't feel the need for a balcony since in port or docked in container ports so much of the time.

Halong Bay
Did a 9 hour private excursion with Asia Eyes Go halong bay. Very relaxing, beautiful scenery, friendly staff. Difficult to get in and out of various boats taking us to caves, beach etc. served a very nice luncheon in board. The hard selling of various products deteacted from the experience. Given lovely scarves as presents.
