We got an excellent deal on a 12 day cruise to Italy and Spain so my expectations were that the cruise ship and/or service must be lacking. This was my 6th cruise and the largest ship yet, but the layout was easy to figure out within a couple of days. The cruise staff were well dressed and offered great service. Embarkation was the usual pain of any large ship, but disembarkation was very smooth and only took us about 30 minutes from leaving the cabin to getting a cab.

Food - We got a promotional food and beverage package for free that allowed us to eat in all of the restaurants and get virtually any drink (alcohol and sodas) for free with no service charge or any fees. That was amazing and made us wonder if they made any money off our group of 4. The Le Bistro restaurant was like a 4 star you'd find in Chicago or some large city. The Italian restaurant was also very good. Everything was clean. The interior of the ship is not lavish but well thought out and very nice.

Entertainment - The secondary entertainment in bars and lounges was a little spotty but the headliner acts were very good. We never saw the cruise director until the last night when he made an appearance at the end of a show.

Cabin Review

Family Balcony

Cabin B2

Standard size for this category. Our particular room had a slightly larger balcony due to it being on a transition from the bump out. The cabin was clean and made good use of space but the sink is very small and lighting could be a lot better. Also you can hear every noise from the toilet. We were right below the 15th deck with the deck chairs and you could hear staff cleaning them and moving them around at night, but usually not for long.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Wow, so much bigger than I imagined from photos.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We visited a lot of things in one day but good tour for a starter.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

So amazing and opulent.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

OK, you can see a similar setup in Las Vegas at Caesars.

Florence (Livorno)

Very classic in the Tuscan sense. Beautiful farm with old buildings. Wine was good.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

BEAUTIFUL. Visited the old part of the city. Great food and interesting shops.

Palermo (Sicily)

Dirty, congested and didn't feel as safe as our other visits.

Sardinia

Classic Italy with the narrow streets, interesting shops and cafes.

Naples

Great history, just wish we could have gone on our own during the tour at some point. Didn't have quite enough time.

Cartagena (Spain)

Beautiful, clean, historic charm.

Barcelona

Didn't see much of the city but seemed beautiful and clean.
