My family and I just returned from a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette. All in all, I'd say our group of 13 had an amazing time. Embarkation day was surprisingly stress-free and relatively quick; we managed to board the ship in less than 45 minutes! Our luggage arrived in a timely manner which was a huge plus since we hadn't brought much on the boat with us.

The Oceanview Café was consistently very good for both breakfast and dinner, minus the strange tasting scrambled eggs. We were always going back to the buffet for seconds and thirds. The main dining room was pretty good, meaning sometimes you would get a fabulous dish and sometimes getting a dish that was just OK. The staff in the main dining room were very attentive to the fact that we were a large group of 13 and we were always sat at tables next to each other, if not at one large table together. The hamburgers and hotdogs at the pool deck were a huge hit with my family and I, we just couldn't get enough! My favorite thing every day was waking up and going to Café el Bacio on deck 5 and getting an iced coffee with my classic drink package at no extra charge! They were delicious! I'd say 95% of the staff were extremely helpful and our Stateroom Attendant, Elsa, was very attentive to our needs.

We had a Veranda Stateroom which was absolutely beautiful and VERY spacious compared to what we have cruised with in the past. The ports we stopped at, (Cozumel, Grand Cayman's, Jamaica, and Haiti) were all amazing with the exception of the Grand Cayman's. We arrived in the Cayman Islands on day 3 and unfortunately there is no dock so there were tender boats that would take passengers to and from the island. We had arrived about 20 minutes late that morning and were denied access to the ferry boats because the ships who had arrived before us already had all of their boats occupied. The ship was forced to use our tender life boats for transporting passengers back and forth from the island and the process was very, very, very slow. My parents and grandparents were unable to get off the boat to see the island, as their number was not called in time and we had to leave. Other family members had to cancel shore excursions they had planned because we did not get off the boat in time for them to attend.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1A

Cabin 1A

Our Veranda Stateroom was absolutely beautiful. SO glad that we decided to go with the balcony, it was amazing to be able to walk out there every morning and see the gorgeous islands (it's also an excellent getaway if you're starting to grow tired of your roommate after a few days). The ability to control your cooling/heating was a great feature. The room in general was very spacious compared to what we have cruised with in the past and the bathrooms were just as big and tastefully decorated as the room. Unfortunately, I had gotten a very bad sun burn the first few days and the showers ability to produce cold water was slim to none. The settings were basically hot and very hot and that was NOT good with my sun burn. Other than that, vast abundance of storage area and very comfortable beds. Fabulous room.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Very quick embarkation/disembarkation processes!

Cozumel

Pretty high prices to simply enjoy a beach. Nonetheless, the beach was beautiful and the food/drinks were easily accessible.

Falmouth

The favorite excursion agreed upon by our group of 13! Our guide made everything very enjoyable and the river was beautiful. Very good for adventure-seekers!

Labadee

Very breathtaking experience!

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

My parents and grandparents were not able to see this port due to the back up of tender boats and slow moving life boats. Very unfortunate. The rest of our group enjoyed the shopping and Margaritaville.
