We booked a package with NCL that included 2 nights at the Sheraton in Santiago as well as airfare, all transfers, a mini dining package on board ship, a bottle of wine, 20 photos from the ships photo shop, and even chocolate covered strawberries. NCL representatives were right at the airport to meet us in Santiago and helped us through immigration and customs in Chile. A city tour as well as a tour of Concha y Toro winery was also part of the package as was a tour of Vina del Mar and Valparaiso. NCL even had their own guest services desk in the Sheraton to help NCL cruise passengers with anything they needed. That was a very nice and unexpected touch. The Sheraton Santiago was located in a very nice part of the city and two main tourist areas were a 15 minute walk from the hotel. We had a guide assigned to us for our tome in Santiago and the tour of Valparaiso. Great guy named Felipe.

Embarkation was a breeze in Valparaiso. No lines, no waiting just went through all the local security and customs checks and walked right on to the ship after a short bus ride from the cruise terminal. Note that once you get on board the ship they keep your passport until the end of the cruise. Also make sure you have your reciprocity agreement paperwork for Argentina as this is collected at the same time.

The Sun is a mid sized ship with a lot of amenities. Lots of bars and restaurants. It is one of the older ships in the NCL fleet but is well maintained and very clean. The staff and crew are very friendly and really do try to make sure that you are enjoying your vacation. Lots of shipboard activities going on at all times. If you are bored it is your own fault.

Cabin Review

Oceanview Porthole Window

Cabin OG

The cabin was well laid out with plenty of storage space. It could be a little tight in there at times but was definitely OK. The shower was small but useable. The cabin was very quiet. Our steward kept it neat and tidy for us and always had towel animals for us.

Port Reviews

Puerto Montt

Saw Petrohue Falls, went part way up Osorno volcano and drove by the large lake area on the way to these sites. Had a great lunch in Puerto Varas where we had a nice view of the lake, the mountains and Osorno volcano.

Punta Arenas

Very good hike down the mountain after taking a chair lift to the top. Walked in a light snow that had fallen overnight. Very scenic views and country side.

Ushuaia (Tierra del Fuego)

Probably one of the most beautiful national parks anywhere. The sights are breathtaking.
