Loyal RCCL customer who really enjoys the suite class of rooms and really making the most of our cruising experience. Unfortunately, this time around, it just missed the mark. We booked this cruise back in October and sadly, the only suites available were the Junior Suites so that meant concierge service was no longer available (it was a "last minute" group decision to take this trip) but that really didn't deter us from booking since it was going to be a "Boys Trip" and the 3 of us were stoked just to be going on vacation.
Upon arrival, I noticed that what I read from previous Cruise Critic reviews just didn't add up. We found the ship to be in FANTASTIC shape for as old as she is. We realize that there is wear and tear and that she will be dry docked in November for an over-haul, but the OVERALL condition of the ship seemed great. (The room was a LITTLE different of a story.....but that review will follow) We made our traditional first stop at the champagne bar (sad to see that will be leaving) and ended up enjoying some wonderful cosmos! After that it was up to the solarium (which was the ONLY pool we visited due to the massive amount of children on board) and we laid out in the sun while waiting for the rooms to be ready.
Here is a quick review of the ports of call, and then I will get into the ship some more:
The only part of the ship that you can tell REALLY needs an overhaul is the staterooms! The bathroom fixtures are old are worn and the whole room just really looks old. From the decor to the furniture, it just needs an update. If you are lucky enough to be in her section though.....our room attendant Norma was WITHOUT A DOUBT the BEST at what she does! Our room (which my husband and I keep immaculate) always looks fantastic! The bathroom was spotless, plenty of fresh towels were left and we were even greeted every morning and evening. A couple time we even stood in the hallway talking to Norma for 30-45 minutes! She is just the best!!!!
