Introduction:
This was our first CMV cruise and was booked after a disappointing Xmas 2015 & New Year cruise to the same destination with a competitor cruise line. We booked with CMV and then read the earlier reviews, so we were concerned that we were in for another disappointment ...
Nothing could be further from the truth - the whole cruise experience was really good and the new Captain has changed the service quality immeasurably. Crew members all smile, service is quick and efficient and everything happens in the background, leaving the passenger to enjoy the cruise instead of worrying about the next problem.
Cabin Review
Double bed with good wardrobe and drawer storage although cases have to be opened flat to stow under the bed.
Everything is very clean - it's not the most luxurious in the world; it's not the highest quality or the latest design; but it's good, solid, dependable, and, for the price charged, really good value for money.
Some Reviews have mentioned brown water when taps are first switched on and this happened in our cabin for about 3-5 seconds when we first used the hand basin. The colour changed back to normal and stayed that way (rust build up in old pipework?) for the balance of the cruise. Slightly disconcerting at first but a minor irritation. The hand basin tap dripped badly, but less than 2 hours after reporting it to Reception (which was crowded since the ship was sailing at full capacity and there were large numbers of passengers with queries and change requests trying to get service), the plumbers called and resolved the problem. I would have preferred not to have the problems but the speed of response was impressive.
Cabin service is excellent - cabin was cleaned twice each day by very friendly cabin crew who ensured that all towels and soaps, shampoos etc were replenished promptly. Some of the crew have better English language than others so communication can be a little variable but no problems - it was genuinely charming when our steward wished my wife 'Happy New Year' instead of 'Happy Birthday'.
