Sail Date: Mar 2016
Cabin: Large Interior Stateroom with Virtual Balcony

We were on the 12 night Western Caribbean Cruise on Anthem of the Seas leaving March 7. The ship is beautiful. We choose an inside cabin to experience the virtual balcony and it was great. Were able to see the scenery when we docked and enjoyed seeing dolphins on two occasions. The food - I read many reviews prior to sailing and noticed a theme about the meals served. Our experience was that we only were served hot food once in Grande. The food was always warm and at times cold. We ate breakfast in Chic three times and had the same experience each time - we ordered either eggs or omelets and waited 30 to 40 minutes for our breakfast. When we questioned this, we were told it takes a long time to make eggs. What do you say to that? The food in Windjammer is good with a ton of variety. However it is always full so we would look for a table then one of us would sit down to save it while the other one got their food. So we never really ate together as the one that got their food first was done by the time the other one got back. The menus in each restaurant are the same on the left side of the menu every night. The right side changes. I noticed that a good percentage of the dinner plates were returned to the kitchen with food left. This should tell Royal Caribbean that there is a problem with their meals. The service was great but not the food - mediocre at best.

We enjoyed the shows. We Will Rock You was wonderful but a bit too long - two hours. We went to The Gift and after 20 minutes, the show stopped due to technical difficulties. Never did see the end of that one. You HAVE to make reservations on line prior to sailing. We reserved everything before we left - dinner reservations, specialty restaurants, the shows, the shore excursions, iFly and North Star. If you do not reserve prior to sailing, you might end up disappointed. We ate dinner with a couple who waited until they were on board to do the shore excursions and could not get any they wanted. We met up with people who were eating at 9:30 at night because everything earlier was booked. It is so easy to do it beforehand and not worry about a thing once you board.

Boarding could not have been any easier. We got off the bus at 10:50, walked right into the terminal, went up to a crew member with an ipad, they scanned our set sail pass and we were on the ship at 11:00 AM. We were told to go to the Windjammer to grab something to eat and the lines were extremely long so we went to the Two70 Lounge, grabbed roast beef sandwiches (which were delicious) and sat in really comfortable seats to enjoy it. They announced that cabins were ready at 1:00 and when we arrived at our cabin, our luggage was already there. Our cabin steward, Keith on the 11th deck) was wonderful and fun. Kept our cabin immaculate!

Cabin Review

Large Interior Stateroom with Virtual Balcony

Cabin K

The cabin has a ton of storage with two closets and seven drawers. In addition, there are two storage compartments above the bed. The bathroom, although a bit small, was fine. The cabin has a sofa and small vanity with chair. We were perfectly happy with our cabin and enjoyed the virtual balcony.

Port Reviews

Labadee

We spent the day on the beach, enjoying the beautiful scenery. Had a wonderful lunch.

Falmouth

Walked around the port area and had a great lunch at Margaretaville.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Also part of the submarine tour and turtle farm. This is two small, very, very small, stores that hold five people tops. The Post Office was closed so could not send postcards from Hell. If you are there on a Saturday and Sunday, I would avoid this tour.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

The submarine tour was okay, not great. Very hot in the vessel and could not see a great deal. The water was cloudy and really not much to see.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

This was part of the submarine tour and was nice. Many turtles at this location.

Costa Maya

This was a very nice tour. Quite a bit of walking, but it was on level ground, no hills. Had to watch out for some roots and rocks, but not bad at all. It was however, very warm there. The tour guide was very information. Take bug spray or wipes with you and wear sneakers.
