Overall this was a good cruise. It wasn't anything spectacular. The ship is pretty, but my family and I agreed it wasn't as beautiful as the voyager class ships. The food was better though, than the voyager class ships. A lot of the waitstaff were new on this cruise, and were still learning, which is fine as nobody is perfect when they start a new job. Our waitstaff made a couple of mistakes but their attitude and eagerness to make it right more than made up for any mistakes. They also brought more dishes to the table than we ordered so that we could try new things. I really liked this touch as it showed they really cared about giving us a new experience.

On paper the Liberty has more to offer in the way of things to do for kids, but we found out early on that sections of if not all of the kids water parks were closed off for many portions of the cruise. We paid a premium be on this ship because we have a child in diapers and they supposedly have a water park for children in diapers. Technically they do but it was closed for the first three days and then open only sporadically after. Drink service near the pools was minimal at best. Also, I don't think they ever had any entertainment near the pools as we have had on other royal Caribbean ships. We went to the ice show, Encore, the skaters were amazing, but I think the show in itself had no flow or clear plot line, it felt really mismatched and thrown together. I would watch it again though, as it is amazing to see what these skaters can do at sea!

Also I don't know if this is specific to this ship or if Royal Caribbean as a whole has been trying this but it seemed like everwhere we turned they were trying to sell us something. You could barely go anywhere without being passed a flier of some sort. I kind of felt like I was walking down the Vegas strip with all of the fliers they were trying to hand me.

Cabin Review

Promenade Family Stateroom

Cabin FP

This is a great cabin for the money. We booked a deal when they had pay full price for the first 2 and get the remaining half price, plus the tax day special which eliminated the port fees. This brought the trip down to $428 a person. This room had a queen bed, a 'pull out' sofa, 2 bunk beds, a walk in closet, and a bathroom with a bathtub. The bathtub was very deep. This room also had 2 windows overlooking the promenade and was very close to the center stage portion of the promenade so you could watch any show from the room. The only negative was the pull out sofa which wasn't a normal pull out sofa bed, there was no mattress. The 'mattress' was a series of sofa cushions lumped together and placed in a mattress shape. Then a sheet was placed over the cushions to make it look like a bed. To say the least it was not comfortable. It is actually kind of funny looking back at how ridiculous it was but at the time it was miserable. Our stateroom attendant George was amazing and always happy!
